چکیده

Methods Research subjects included 10 normal volunteers undergoing CMR and 36 patients undergoing clinically indicated right and left heart catheterization and a research CMR within 5 hours. Cine images were acquired to evaluate RV volumes and RVEF. Radial and longitudinal RV segmental displacement during systole were evaluated at the right sided septal endocardium and RV free wall on 4-chamber cine images using Feature Tracking software. Hemodynamics assessed during catheterization included RVSP, RVEDP, PASP, mean PAP and LVEDP. In normal controls, RVSP was estimated by echocardiography.

Influence of Right Ventricular Hemodynamics on Left Ventricular Diastolic Pressure-Volume Relations in Man

To clarify the mechanism of displacement of the left ventricular diastolic pressure-volume function with alteration of loading conditions, the effects of nitroglycerin on pressure-volume relations in 13 patients were compared with those of amyl nitrite in 13 other patients during cardiac catheterization. After nitroglycerin, average systemic mean arterial pressure declined by 15.1 mm Hg (17%) a...

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Introduction:  In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

Monitoring and management of right ventricular function following cardiac transplantation

In cardiac transplantation postoperative right ventricular dysfunction is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Recipients with pulmonary hypertension due to end-stage heart failure and a donor heart, fragile because of ischemia-reperfusion injury, and not previously adapted to an elevated pulmonary resistance are the causes of right ventricular dysfunction, that unless aggressively treated...

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

Right ventricular performance in septic shock: a combined radionuclide and hemodynamic study.

Twenty-five patients with septic shock underwent simultaneous radionuclide ventriculography and right heart catheterization to clarify the role of the right ventricle in this syndrome. A depressed right ventricular ejection fraction (less than 38%) was present in 13 patients and was found in patients with elevated cardiac output (4 of 6 patients) and with normal or low cardiac output (9 of 19 p...
